Peter Popek, DDS

A Washington state native originally from Bellingham, Dr. Popek brings a calm, meticulous, patient-centered approach to dentistry. He believes excellent dental visits begin with respect: patients deserve to feel heard, safe, and fully informed before treatment decisions are made. His goal is to help patients understand their oral health clearly, prevent dental disease early, and build confidence in the care they receive.

Education and Training

Dr. Popek earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Washington, then continued his education at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

After dental school, Dr. Popek moved to New York City and completed a residency in General Dentistry at Columbia University. That additional residency training strengthened his clinical judgment, expanded his experience with a broad range of patient needs, and reinforced the importance of careful diagnosis, prevention, and communication in everyday dentistry.

Why Dentistry

Dr. Popek’s path to dentistry reflects both his scientific background and his commitment to helping people take control of their health. Biology gave him the foundation to understand oral disease, prevention, and the way dental health connects to daily comfort and function. Dentistry gave him the opportunity to apply that knowledge in a direct, personal way with patients.

He is especially drawn to the preventive side of dental care. When patients understand what is happening in their mouths and why it matters, they make better decisions and avoid more complex problems later. That combination of education, prevention, and trust is central to the way Dr. Popek practices.

Outside the Office

Outside of the dental office, Dr. Popek enjoys skiing, tennis, hiking, and sailing, all of which reflect his connection to the Pacific Northwest. He also enjoys traveling, good food, music, and art. Above all, he values time with family and close friends.
